Hey, gang!Well, we’re getting closer and closer to the time when we bid farewell to building 221. That also means bidding farewell to its spacious 3,000 square foot data center, and moving into the lovely 25,000 square foot data center in building 240 — our new home. We currently expect to perform the data center move over a couple of weekends in October. This means that the preparation for this move is already under way. We’ll be migrating services to new machines, retiring old machines, moving computers to new racks… general and orderly chaos. What this means for you is some downtimes. We don’t have them scheduled yet, and when we do, we’ll announce them. We’re trying to keep disruptions to a minimum, but I wanted to give everyone a heads-up that there will be some disruption of service in the coming months.I can say with a great deal of certainty there will be an outage of some scope on August 15th as this is a CIS maintenance weekend, and an upgrade of the mail and calendar server is planned on that day. We’ll also be rolling some new services up on that day as well. There will also be significant outages on the weekends of October 3 and October 17, as those are the weekends we’ll be performing the actual move of equipment. A more detailed schedule will be posted as plans finalize, but for now it would be wise to plan for no computing on those weekends. Thanks for your understanding. I’m really excited to get into the new building, both from a workspace point of view and from a data center point of view! I feel like a kid at Christmas, albeit a kid who has to go out and buy all the raw materials for his toys, and who then has to make them and wrap them up, but still…Here’s to a successful move!
