Maintenance on MCS Computer Servers / Emptying Sandbox

Hi all,
Our compute servers are due for some maintenance and reconfiguring. We’re going to start this process by doing a single one, and based on that decide the schedule for the rest. Pay special attention – /sandbox will not be preserved. This maintenance will also become a quarterly thing on our compute servers, including the resetting of scratch space such as /sandbox. We’ll warn you beforehand, of course, but try to keep this in mind. What follows is the announcement you’ll see for these maintenance activities going forward.
On Tuesday 29th, from 9am to 3pm, we will be performing maintenance on the following MCS compute servers: crush.mcs.anl.gov
During this maintenance window we will be resizing the disk partitions, and reinstalling the operating system (Ubuntu Precise) with the latest patches.
**Important**
During this maintenance window we will be permanently deleting all items in the /sandbox filesystem.
Please ensure you have retrieved any needed data from /sandbox prior to the start of this maintenance. Your data will not be recoverable if it is deleted during this process.
