State of CELS IT Talk, May 8, 2PM
Hi, everybody!
It hit me it’s been a shockingly long time since I’ve given a “State of IT” talk to the ALD. And we’ve got a lot I want to talk about, too. We’re on the cusp of some really cool stuff and it’s time that I got you all as excited as I am.
Well, really, I doubt that’s possible, I’m an excitable dude, but there’s still a lot to share. So, come join me in the TCS Conference Center #1416 (the big room, because we’re big room people) at 2PM on May 8, and prepare to have your socks removed by the force of exciting IT updates!
But, wait, I can hear you say. IT Updates? Exciting? Are you mad?
Yes, of course I am. But that’s neither here nor there. We’ll be talking about the projects we’ve been working on over the past year, new services you may not be aware of, new services and resources on the horizon, and there’ll be the much-loved awkward Q&A where you get to ask questions I’m barely prepared to answer, but try my best because I was a boy scout back in the day.
Highlights of what we’ll talk about:
* Why not having a help desk anymore is a good thing.
* Why you’re thinking “Wait, we don’t have a help desk anymore?” right now.
* What the new linux computing infrastructure is looking like, and how close we are to widespread release.
* Why me saying “new linux infrastructure” isn’t a sign the sky is falling, despite that little chicken making a convincing argument.
* What new services we’re hosting or managing you can take advantage of right now. * What changes are coming to existing services.
* Why you’re going to have one less account name and password to deal with. * Why the Blackhawks didn’t make the playoffs and why that makes me sad.
I plan to have it available for streaming (live or after the fact) if you can’t make it. But you will make it, because we love you and will miss you if you’re not there. I took a poll, I know these things.
Looking forward to it!
