Two new features on the CELS Intranet

March 29, 2022 by Stacey, Craig

Hey, everyone. I wanted to drop a quick note to let you know about new features on inside.cels.anl.gov that you should be aware of.
1. CELS Mailing and Announcement List Finder<wordpress.cels.anl.gov/inside-cels/new-employee-info/cels-mailing-and-announcement-list-finder/>: There’s often a lot of confusion about who will get what announcement. When you choose poorly, you can either inadvertently spam a bunch of people who don’t care about the announcement, or leave out a bunch of people who do. So, linked right off the front page, you will now find the CELS Mailing and Announcement List Finder. Choose the audience you want to reach and it will provide a clickable link to the list you most likely want to use. 2. CELS Intranet Blog Posts: Now anyone in CELS can make a blog post on the site. Depending on how it’s tagged, it may be highlighted on a particular subpage on the site, as well. For instance, if you tag the post with “Antiracism”, they will be featured in the sidebar on the DEI pages. If you have ideas for categories or specific ones you’d like to see highlighted on a given page, let us know. You’ll find the link to the blog posts (as well as a page with a quick tutorial on how to post) on the rightmost menu option on the website. We’ve also got an #antiracism<cels-anl.slack.com/archives/C01AJ9C8872> channel in Slack that will get notified on new posts. At the moment, it will notify on *every* post, but we’re working on having the post alerts be more category-specific.
As noted in the aforementioned tutorial page for making blog posts, we’ve got a labwide license for LinkedIn Learning, which includes video tutorials on how to use a lot of the tools we have, including WordPress, Slack, Outlook, you name it. Make sure you check it out if you haven’t already.
Also, I’m sending this note to the [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> list (helpfully suggested by the link above) since I want it to reach as wide an audience as reasonable. But if you haven’t already subscribed, you should check out lists.cels.anl.gov/mailman/listinfo/dispatches ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>) or follow our Twitter (twitter.com/celssys) or our blog (virtualhelpdesk.cels.anl.gov/blog) for other announcements from CELS Systems. We haven’t sent a dispatch in a while, but I want to revive it for less-critical announcements and showcasing new features/capabilities. We’re also very overdue for a new newsletter from Systems so you can see what we’ve been up to beyond the trouble tickets, so keep an eye out for that.
Thanks, everyone! Some links to the things discussed above follow.

We are seeing an outage preventing some mail clients from authenticating. We have reported it, though it seems to be a larger issue.
