Upcoming maintenance weekend Feb 19-21, GCE Town Hall links
Hi, everyone, happy Friday! Hope you’re staying warm!
First up, thanks to those who were able to attend the first GCE Town Hall this afternoon. You’ll find the slides and recording at anl.box.com/v/StaceTalksANL in the 2021 directory. The next Town Hall is Tuesday, Feb 9 at 3PM. See virtualhelpdesk.cels.anl.gov/2021/01/20/weekly-cels-systems-town-halls/ for more info and joining details. I will also post to #announcements in Slack with the bluejeans link.
Next up, we’ll be having a maintenance weekend in CELS in a couple of weeks to apply some much needed patching to some systems. I’ll send a more detailed announcement of what exactly will be down when in the week prior, but the high level view of what will be affected when as it stands right now follows.
Friday, Feb 19: Hot fixes and live updates on redundant servers, no impact to service expected.
Saturday, Feb 20: * File server patching. During the downtime, both legacy and GCE linux systems will be in accessible (exact times TBA). * Workstation and compute/login nodes patching: Because the file services will be down, we will also patch and reboot all user-facing nodes in GCE (home nodes, compute nodes, workstations), as well as all user-facing Ubuntu 16.04 nodes in Legacy (login.mcs.anl.gov, compute004.mcs.anl.gov, some workstations). * collab.cels.anl.gov upgrade.
Sunday, Feb 21: * jira.cels.anl.gov upgrade * git.cels.anl.gov – point release update.
Thanks!
