Maintenance Weekend (June 18-20)

Hi, everyone. Hope your summer has started out well and you’re enjoying the 90 degree weather and the humidity. Mmmm… swampy.
Anyway, I wanted to make you all aware of an upcoming maintenance weekend. During the weekend of Friday, June 18 to Sunday, June 20, we need to take various components of the infrastructure offline to get them upgraded and patched to the latest levels. We’re still working out the exact times for the outages, but we do know the affected services:
* gitlab.cels.anl.gov, xgitlab.cels.anl.gov, and git.cels.anl.gov will all have outages during this period as we upgrade the software and/or underlying server. The outage for git.cels.anl.gov should be on the brief side, but the two legacy git servers have a much bigger upgrade that will take at least a day as data is migrated to a new server. * Confluence and Jira servers will have brief periods of unavailability as they are upgraded. * Login, home, compute, and workstation nodes will all be rebooted to apply the latest kernel patches.
We’ll announce the precise outage windows at the start of that week. Let me know if this weekend poses a particular hardship and we’ll look into options. Thanks!
