Scheduled Maintenance: GCE Storage Migration on Monday, February 3, 2025
CELS GCE Users,
This notice is to inform you of a scheduled maintenance that will affect the General Computing Environment (GCE) on Monday, February 3, 2025. We will be migrating production file shares to new storage servers to improve system performance and reliability. Please review the details below to understand how this maintenance will impact your work.
Maintenance Window:
- Date: Monday, February 3, 2025
- Time: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (Central Time)
Impact:
During this maintenance window:
- You will not be able to read or write files to the following network file shares: homes, projects, software, globalscratch, mgrast, seq-data, HACC-DGX1, LiteratureMining, ml_lab, and various product directories for the SEED environment (CEPI, global_survey, MAAGE, nciftp, and ross).
- GCE home servers and compute nodes will be unavailable.
- Any jobs running on GCE and that read or write data to the above listed shares will likely fail.
- Jenkins and Gitlab CI/CD workers will be paused to prevent data loss.
Action Required:
- To ensure a smooth migration, please refrain from saving any new files to the affected network file shares starting at 12:00 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025. This will help us sync all data to the new storage services.
Post-Maintenance:
- After the maintenance is complete, access to all affected services will be restored.
- If you experience issues accessing the services after the maintenance window, please contact the CELS Service Desk.
