Reminder on upcoming changes to your access to Argonne email, coming June 20.
See this prior announcement for a fuller description, as well as the slide deck and recording from Monday’s town hall.
I just want to remind everyone the changes described above will go into effect Thursday (June 20). If your computer is not certified GFE (Government Furnished Equipment), you will only be able to access your email and other Microsoft 365 work through a web browser at https://portal.office.com.
If your computer is fully managed by Argonne, you have no action, and you should see no change except the only program/application you’ll be able to use to access your mail will be Outlook. Third party mail and calendar applications will not work (including Busycal, Fantastical, Thunderbird, Mac Mail, etc.)
For self-managed/co-managed computers, please see the previous post for details on how to determine if you’ve got any action.
None of these changes affect phones or tablets as the changes for those devices have already been put into place. (Exception is Surface tablets, which show up as Windows laptops and will be affected by this change.)
If you find yourself unable to access your email via the usual method after Thursday morning, you can still use https://outlook.office.com as an interim solution while we work out how to get your Argonne-owned equipment certified as GFE.
Only Argonne-issued equipment can be certified as GFE. We cannot manage or certify personal computers or computers owned by other organizations.
Thanks!
