- #announcements is a mandatory channel. All members of the workspace belong to it. Only Slack administrators can post to it. It’s very low traffic.
- #random is a default channel. It is for general chit-chat, socializing. It can get noisy, you do not need to stay in this channel if you don’t want to.
- #div_general is a general channel for each division (ALCF, MCS, EVS, DSL, CPS, CELS). Some of these are invite-only.
For any channel, pay attention to the topic and description. Some of them allow for frivolous chatter, some want to be strictly by the books relevant topics only.
If a channel you’re interested in doesn’t exist, create it!
