If a Slack workspace you use is migrated into the CELS Slack Grid, there will be changes you should be aware of.
Logging In
As noted here, you will need some form of Argonne account with Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) to login as a regular user. If you are not an Argonne account holder, you will need to access Slack as a guest user. The login page should have a Guest Login button after the three Argonne account type logins. If you are unable to login as a guest, your account may need to be converted. Reach out to [email protected] and it will get switched to a guest account.
Single account
Your Slack account is a single account across all the workspaces in the Slack grid. All DMs and account history are merged into this single account as part of the migration.
Refresh your client
If you’re already on the Enterprise Grid, you’ll want to refresh your client so the migrated workspace shows up nicely. The easiest way to do this on the desktop is CTRL-Shift-R (Win/Linux) or CMD-Shift-R (macOS) to get a fresh view of the workspaces.
Channels and Workspaces
Workspaces inside the grid are all under the main organization with the Argonne National Laboratory logo. If you select the name of the Organization, you can see the individual workspaces you’re a part of listed there. All your channels, regardless of workspace, are by default in the main channel list. You can organize your channels to make workspaces more obvious. In the case where two workspaces have the same channel name the workspace name is appended to the channel.
